Buying & Range Development

A range is a set of choices. This is how I make them, from reading taste to working with the factory.

01

Choosing

I start by reading where taste is heading, then choose what fits the customer and the brand.

Not every good idea belongs in a range. Each piece has to suit the people buying it and sit well with everything else the brand sells.

02

Building the range

Every range needs entry, core and statement pieces. Entry pieces are the easy first buy, core pieces carry the range, and statement pieces give it its character.

I build that shape across categories:

  • Decorative accessories
  • Hardware
  • Glassware
  • Gifting
  • Seasonal

Colour is planned in families, so pieces work together across a room and across the range.

03

Trading

Once a range is live, I read sell-through daily and weekly.

That tells me what to repeat, what to re-colour and what to cut.

04

Suppliers

I develop pieces directly with factory partners in India, China and Europe, from sample and costing to production and quality.
